What learners will do & who this is for

Short, practical activities and clear language help learners build habits they can use immediately. The program is suitable for older children, young people and adults in community settings.

Learning outcomes

  • Recognise common online risks (scams, grooming, harmful content).
  • Use simple privacy settings and manage personal information online.
  • Respond safely to unwanted contact and report concerns.
  • Practice respectful online communication and digital citizenship.
  • Create a personal safety plan for everyday digital life.

Who this is for

Community learners, parents, caregivers, older students, library patrons and community program participants. Sessions are scaffolded so facilitators can tailor activities for different ages and abilities.

Modules / syllabus

Module 1 — Safe & private

What to share online, privacy basics, strong passwords and simple settings.

Module 2 — Scams & misleading content

Spotting scams, hoaxes and misleading messages; steps to protect money and accounts.

Module 3 — Respect & communication

Respectful language online, responding to harassment, and strategies for de-escalation.

Module 4 — Reporting & support

When and how to report concerns, trusted adults, and eSafety help lines.

Module 5 — Personal safety plan

Create a simple plan with actions and contacts for different digital risks.

Delivery & assessment

Delivered as a short workshop (2–4 hours) with simple practical activities and short guided reflection. Sessions can be run as public workshops at community venues, school classes or small group sessions at libraries.

Assessment is informal: learners complete a short participation checklist and a one-page personal safety plan. Facilitators verify participation and provide a certificate of attendance where required.

Frequently asked questions

Do learners need prior experience?
No — sessions are beginner-friendly and scaffolded so people new to digital tools can participate.
What age is suitable?
Designed for older primary-age learners, teens and adults. Facilitators can adapt activities for different ages and needs.
Can you provide Auslan?
Yes — Auslan summaries and interpreters can be arranged on request. Tick the Easy Read / Auslan option on the form or email founder@edulinked.com.au.

Easy Read — eSafety for Learners

This is a short course to help people stay safe online. We learn how to protect our accounts, spot scams, be kind online and get help if something goes wrong. The course uses simple language, pictures and short activities. Easy Read and Auslan are available.
