Volunteer roles (examples)

Activation Facilitator

Run activities, welcome participants and manage small-group learning. 2–4 hour shifts.

  • Skills: confident communicator
  • Training: 1-hour induction + onsite buddy
  • Checks: none typical (role-specific WWC may apply)

Device-lending Assistant

Manage check-out/check-in, simple device setup and inventory. 2–4 hour shifts.

  • Skills: basic tech comfort
  • Training: kit QA + inventory system
  • Checks: Police/WWC if handling sensitive clients

Accessibility Buddy

Support participants to use Easy Read/Auslan assets and assistive devices. 1–3 hour shifts.

  • Training: Auslan awareness & accessibility briefing
  • Checks: none typical

Data & Evaluation Assistant

Collect consented participant data and support short evaluation forms. 2–3 hour shifts.

Training, onboarding & safeguards

  • Induction: short self-paced module + 1-hour live induction (online or in-person).
  • Microcredential: complete induction & first supervised shift to earn an EduLinked badge.
  • Safeguards: WWC/Police checks where required, insurance for approved volunteers, and a clear Volunteer Code of Conduct.
  • Accessibility: reasonable adjustments provided — tell us in your application what you need.

How we match volunteers

Our process is simple: apply → info session → induction → matched to a role and buddy for your first shift. Most volunteers are rostered within 1–4 weeks of induction.

  2. Receive an auto-confirmation and invite to an info session.
  3. Complete induction & microcredential, attend first supervised shift.
  4. Ongoing roster and support from Volunteer Coordinator.
