Easy Read — Program

Senior Tech Help

Patient, hands-on help for older people. We help with phones, tablets and computers. We use Easy Read guides and offer Auslan summaries when needed.

Who this is for

This program is for older people who want help to use phones, tablets or computers. It is also for carers and family members who want to help.

  • People new to devices
  • People who want help with video calls and messaging
  • People who want help with online services like banking and health portals
  • Carers, family and community volunteers

What we do

We offer:

  • Drop-in help — short, friendly support sessions.
  • 1:1 bookable sessions — longer help for specific tasks.
  • Small group classes — short workshops on topics like video calls.
  • Home visits — where people need in-home support (assessed).

We keep sessions patient and slow. We use Easy Read steps and repeat instructions. Volunteers help with one-to-one support.

How the sessions work

1
Book or drop in — choose a drop-in or book a 1:1 session online.
2
Tell us what you want — a short form or phone chat to set goals. (Bring device and passwords if comfortable.)
3
Patient, step-by-step help — tutors use Easy Read prompts and volunteers help for 1:1 coaching.
4
Follow-up — short one-page guides and suggested next steps.

Session types

  • Drop-in Tech Help — bring device for short 20–40 minute help.
  • 1:1 Bookable Session — 45–60 minute appointment for personalised help.
  • Small Group Classes — short workshops on topics like 'phone basics'.
  • Home Visits — arranged for people with access needs after assessment.
